Archie was born January 6, 1949, in Crowley, Louisiana, to James and Dorothy Hoffpauir. Raised in a loving Christian home, he attended First Church of the Nazarene at birth. As the eldest boy with three sisters, he could often be found having great adventures with his male cousins in the countryside at Petry Bridge on the Bayou Queue de Tortue. Memories of these adventures and other musings can be found at his blog at Serendipity-Doo-Dah.blogspot.com. He attended Crowley High School and Louisiana State University, majoring in Journalism. Just prior to his last semester at LSU, he answered God's call to ministry and attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While serving as Associate Pastor in June 1974, and then Pastor at Northgate Church of the Nazarene in El Paso, Texas, he married 1st Lieutenant Janine Dahner, U.S. Army Nurse Corp. In 1975. They were blessed with a son, Timothy Dahner Hoffpauir in 1976. Archie pastored at First Church of the Nazarene in Waco, Texas, from 1982 to 1993, and after retiring from ministry he had a distinguished career at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Waco. He retired in the Fall of 2020, devoting his time doing what he loved best --- reading.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, James Hoffpauir and Dorothy Hoffpauir; his nephew, Jonathan Degroat; and his brother-in-law, Art Degroat.

He is survived by his wife, Janine Hoffpauir; son, Timothy Hoffpauir and wife, Sheranne Hoffpauir; step-daughters, Fiachra Marlow, Megan Weger and husband, Matt Weger, and Dice Marlow; step-great-grandchildren, Lillian Hamilton, Damien Tarkalson, and Kazeki (KJ) Marlow-Britland; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
