Arthur "Art" Kuehl November 20, 1920 - May 31, 2010 Arthur Edward "Art" Kuehl of Robinson went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 31, 2010. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 4, at First Baptist Church of Robinson with the Bro. Michael Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Arthur was born November 20, 1920, in Riesel, Texas, to Edwin and Annie Kuehl. He graduated from Prairie Hill High School. He was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers, playing for one year; served 3 1/2 years in the Army, stationed at Mendora in the Philippines, Okinawa and in the Army of Occupation in Korea. He returned to baseball, pitching seven years with the New York Yankees. Art used his skills as a left-handed pitcher, giving private lessons to high school students in Sinton, Artesia and Cameron. From the age of 12, he had a great love for Indian artifacts. After marrying Connie Carleton, he worked for Plymouth Oil in Sinton, TX, for approximately 20 years. During that time he played for the semi-pro team, Plymouth Oilers. He was then hired by Marathon Oil Co. in Artesia, NM; later retiring in 1982. They moved to Cameron in 1984 and to Robinson in 2002. Arthur was a member of First Baptist Church of Robinson. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father to his children and he loved his Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vicki Kuehl; son, Roger Kuehl; brothers, Andrew, Jack and J.T. Kuehl; and brother-in-law, Duane Carleton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Connie Kuehl, of Robinson; daughter-in-law, Diana Kuehl; sisters, Lorraine Varner and Marilyn Smith, both of Waco; brothers, Louis Kuehl and wife, Diane, of Grand Prairie, TX; Gene Kuehl of Lorena; and Donnie Kuehl of Aledo, TX; sister-in-law, Vivian Kunz and husband, Pete, of Cameron; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many dear friends. Pallbearers will be the nephews of Arthur Kuehl. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Robinson or the American Cancer Society.
