MILLER, ARTHUR Dr. Arthur L. Miller of Woodway, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004. Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church Woodway in the Worship Center, with the Rev. D. Michael Toby officiating. Dr. Dan Williams and Dr. Kenneth Massey, sons-in-law, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Dr. Miller was born September 26, 1918, in Washington, D.C. to John Thaddeus and Mildred Turner Adams Miller. After serving 4 years in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1946, he married Ella Louise James on October 20, 1946. He received Bachelors and Masters degrees from Baylor University and an Ed.D. from the University of Houston. His commitment to education was exemplary. He served as teacher and principal at DeQueen School in Port Arthur, Texas, for over 15 years, and served as a professor in the School of Education at the University of Alabama for 12 years. He made over 30 trips to South and Central America as a consultant to American schools there, consulting well into his eighties. Even in retirement, he served as professor in the School of Education at Baylor University. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise; son, Lee Miller and wife, Linda, of Yorktown, Virginia; daughter, Anita Williams and husband, Dr. Dan Williams of Dallas; daughter, Sara Massey, and husband, Dr. Kenneth Massey of Greensboro, North Carolina; son, Dr. Flint Miller, and wife, Debra, of Baguio City, Philippines; son, Dr. Scott Miller, and wife, Dr. Carlin Miller, of New York City; brother, Russell Miller, and wife, Christine, of Ocala, Florida; and Arlene Miller, wife of his late brother, John A. Miller, of Washington, D.C. Dr. Miller is also survived by 10 wonderful grandchildren. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home; memorials may be made to the Miller Mission Fund at First Baptist Church, Woodway.
