AUBREY BULLARD Aubrey Lee Bullard, age 77 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30 at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Disney officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 29 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Aubrey was born July 22, 1926 to Rev. J.Y. and Hattie Bullard. He was raised in Gainesville, Texas. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He married Eugenia Jean Elizabeth Holley, the love of his life, on September 7, 1952 and began 52 years of marriage. Together, they lovingly raised four children. Aubrey was elected Department Commander of the American Legion in July 1961. He was an active member of AMVETS and Disabled American Veterans. Aubrey began his career with Texas Veterans Commission in 1964. He was appointed Executive Director in 1977, where he served our nation’s veterans until his retirement on May 29, 1987. He served as President of the National Association of State Directors of Veteran’s Affairs. The Association awarded him the Melvin T. Dixon award, their highest award for service, in 1979 and again in 1983. Aubrey will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather Pampa and friend. His devotion to his family and church was evident in all that he did and we will be forever grateful. He provided us with guidance and encouragement with unconditional love. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he was Chairman of the Building Committee, delivered for Meals on Wheels and was awarded the Outstanding Laity Award in 2001 by the United Methodist Men of CUMC. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Waco; children, Linda and Richard Rezach of Waco, Mike and Suzanne Bullard of Waco, Rod and Dee Bullard of Austin, Debbie and Terry Collier of Waco; nine cherished grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Red Timmons, Doug Marsh, Charlie Dickinson, Don Mayo and James Hollingsworth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
