She married Harriam Edison Sonny Box on June 20, 1940 , and had two sons Barry and Ray. Audrey graduated from West High School in West, Texas and was a standout on their basketball team. She was a lifetime Methodist in Waco, Texas at Hillcrest Methodist Church and later at Central United Methodist Church. She lived in Waco until April, 2006 when she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. Audrey was a loving mother who was one of the most giving persons ever to walk the earth. She always put others before herself and did without so much in her life so others could thrive. Her strong work ethic set the standard for the whole family. When she knew the family needed a "little extra" she worked at Johnson Beauty Supply and Guy Mitchell Cleaners. She loved her family, friends, fried catfish and oysters oh did she love those oystersso long as they were fried to a crisp. She had an amazing ability to cure what ailed us with a jar of black salve, Campho Phenique, horse liniment or just a little seven up sipped through a straw with a side of chicken soup. Audrey was a great cook and when times were tough, she could even turn fried baloney into something special. However, she will always be remembered for her "extra thin" dumplings and her "knotty ole pot roasts" served most every Sunday with mashed potatoes and gravy. And she was always quick with a line to make you laugh. But most of all, Audrey will always be remembered for her loving smile and gentle way that set the standard for all who knew her. Audrey is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Sonny Box, brothers Chester, Charlie, Wilmer, Samuel Eugene, Jr. S.E., her twin brother Aubrey Eulan who died as an infant and sisters Ima Clements, Velma Lane and Veneta Bates.
