Avis Marie Gill

Avis Marie Gill November 13, 1926-October 12, 2005 Avis passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2005. Services will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, October 15, at Rosemound Cemetery with the Rev. J. H. Horn officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 14 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Avis was born November 13, 1926 to Thomas John Gill and Jessie Donaldson Gill in Satin. At the age of 7, Avis was diagnosed with Polio, because of her deformity of her spine; she wore a back brace the rest of her life. She was 21 when she obtained her beautician license in 1947 from the Chicago Beauty School in Waco. She worked as a Beautician for several years before opening her own shop on Reuter Ave. Avis loved genealogy and she loved her garden and her flowers. Avis has been a lifelong member of Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by sisters, Alma Johnson and Lurlene Brown; one niece and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ruby Barr, Annie Mae Koon and brother John Aubrey Bud Gill. Memorial donations may be made to Primitive Baptist Church.
