Barbara Alice Anderson

Barbara Alice Schaefer Anderson, 85, died December 3, 2016, in Seguin, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Waco, with burial following at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco. Barbara was a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother and friend, who always put others before herself. A devout Christian, she daily lived her faith through her kindness, graciousness and generosity. She was a tireless and supportive partner of her husband during his 40 years of ministry, including 37 years as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Waco, and she lovingly served as his primary caregiver during the last 15 years of his life. After her sons left home for college, she worked part-time in the registrar’s office at Baylor University, where she enjoyed greeting with a warm smile and kind word the thousands of students who came to her desk for their ID cards. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, The Rev. William Anderson. Survivors include her sons, Stephen and wife, Cathy, of Seguin, and Nathan and wife, Sharon, of Cypress; brother, John D. “Jack” Schaefer and wife, Jan, of Gowrie, Iowa; grandchildren, Erika Anderson Mahoney and husband, Patrick, of Houston, Ryan Anderson and wife, Jessica, of San Antonio, Evan Anderson of Houston, and Ian Anderson of Live Oak, Texas; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Anderson of San Antonio; one niece; and three nephews.
