Barbara “Bobi” Ann Griffin was born on July 22, 1937, to John and Thelma Sullins in Waco, Texas. She grew up in Waco, where she attended Waco High School. She was a beautiful young lady who fell hard for the love of her life, Richard Dale Griffin. They were married on September 28, 1956, and to their union, four boys were born: Richard (Richy) Harold, Randall (Randy) Arlin, Ronald (Ronny) Dale, and Rodney (Rod) Lee.
She spent her working career as the financial bookkeeper and was the third employee at Jim Stewart Realtors in Waco, TX. The friendships she built at JSR were friendships that lasted the rest of her life. After retirement, Barbara didn’t slow down. She stayed sharp by helping her son Randy with his restaurant bookkeeping until the time of her passing.
She was the most loving wife a man could ask for. She was a supportive and devoted wife to Richard. The way she took care of her husband would make any man envious. She made the small things meaningful—making his plate for every meal, packing his football officiating bag every Friday night, ensuring his clothes were always pressed, and always making their house a warm and loving home. Even with all of these things she did for her husband, in her eyes, giving Richard four boys was her biggest accomplishment.
Barbara attended more sporting events in her lifetime than anyone could imagine. In the early years, she spent her life living for her four sons and cheering for them from the stands at ALL of their athletic events. She was the best mom to her four boys, and she spent her life supporting them. Once her four boys were grown, the cheering from the stands continued for years as she supported her grandkids and great-grandkids on the athletic field. Barbara’s most enjoyable moments in life were spent taking care of her family and being there to cheer all of them on, both on and off the field.
As a mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the rock of the family, and she loved all of them unconditionally. Barbara was known for putting her family before herself, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. “Mamaw” or “Mimi,” as she was also called, was the one everyone turned to when they needed a hug or a warm place to rest. The highlight of her day was anytime one of her boys or grandkids came to visit and just sit and talk. On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Barbara went home to be with her Heavenly Father. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her son, Rodney; and her parents, John and Thelma.
