Beatrice LaCour Barbin, age 99, passed away on Gaudete “Rejoice” Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Ascension Providence Park, St. Catherine’s Long-Term Care.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Waco Memorial Park in Robinson, with Father Cyril Ejaidu officiating.
Beatrice was born in Port Arthur, Texas, to Lawrence LaCour and Hortense Rodriguez LaCour, and married Forest Hewitt Barbin in Port Arthur where they lived, worked, and reared their three children. Bea was a beautiful teen violinist under mentor Louis J. LaGarda, the conductor of the Port Arthur Symphony. She was employed as a switchboard telephone operator. Bea was a great mother, homemaker, cook, seamstress, and volunteer. Bea and Forest moved to Waco in 2003, several years after Forest retired from DuPont Sabine River Works. In Waco, she was a long time Providence Hospital Volunteer in the Gift Shop.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Barbin in 2010 in Waco; her parents; her brother, Donald LaCour; and son-in-law, Edward McLellan.
Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Barbin McLellan; grandson, James McLellan, his wife Amber, and great-granddaughters Lilly and Ava; Grandson, John McLellan and his wife, Christina, and great-granddaughters Emma and Eden; her son, Gary K. Barbin MD and wife, Jody; granddaughter, Lori Barbin Espinosa, her husband, Jaime and great-grandsons, Ryan and Liam; grandson, Luke Barbin and wife, Tara, great-granddaughter, Olive and great-grandson, Jude; grandson, Clay Barbin MD and wife, Kylie, great-grandson, Hayes and great-granddaughters Reese and Bea; daughter, Linda Barbin Bowers, and husband, Reggie; grandson, Eric Bowers and wife, Marisol, great-granddaughter, Adriana, and great-grandson, Patrick; granddaughter Jackie Bowers Logvinoff, and her husband, Nick, and great-grandsons Tristan and Calvin.
Memorials may be made to Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School in Waco, Ascension Providence Park Living Center, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Waco, or your charity of choice.
