Benjamin F. Miller December 4, 1916 - April 8, 2010 Benjamin F. "Ben" Miller, 93, of Waco Speegleville TX passed away April 8, 2010. A time of visitation-memorial service in celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later time. Ben was the eldest of five children born to S.A. "Beanie" Miller and Shirley Davies Miller and reared in Danville, IL. Ben graduated from Danville HS and was an ITU/CWA union printer, retiring in 1979 from The Danville Commercial News. He also worked at R&S Printing in Danville. He married Elizabeth Ann Higgins of Newport, Indiana in 1940. He served in WWII as a U.S. Army Air Corps Staff Sergeant, B-24 tail gunner in the Pacific. Ben was a member of the Masonic Anchor Lodge 980, Sebring Florida Elks Lodge and Cottonwood Seniors Golf Assoc. Ben grew up as a caddie at Danville Country Club and benefited from the professional instruction of George Bolesta and others. He developed a classic golf swing that allowed him to maintain a single digit handicap into his 70's. He won many amateur events and shot his age or better many times. His silky-smooth swing matched his gentlemanly personality and demeanor. He was well-liked and respected wherever he lived. Ben was preceded in death by his parents; his great-granddaughter; and brothers, Jack and Don. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Ann; his daughter, Linda Sue Miller Duensing and his son, Dennis Mark Miller and wife, Janice, of Waco; his sisters, Beverly widow of Bob Starns of Danville, IL and Marilyn wife of Bob Mitchell of Lake City, FL.; grandsons, Jeffrey Todd Boyd and Linton Miller of Waco; and Joseph Boyd and wife, Paula, of Danville; two great-grandsons; and one great-great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to The Cottonwood Creek Junior Golf Program in Waco, Providence Hospice or your local church. The family would like to thank Dr. John Kosarek and the Hillcrest Clinic Midway and Providence Hospice for their care.
