Beran, Bennie March 8, 1918 – October 25, 2005 Bennie August Beran, 87, of Mart was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 25, 2005. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mart with Pastor David Jeske officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5:30-7:00pm, Friday, October 28, 2005 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Bennie August Beran was born on March 8, 1918, in The Grove, Texas, the son of Frank and Selma Beran. He was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church, The Grove, Texas. He joined the United States Army in 1937, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After serving in the Army, he joined the Air Force from which he retired after 20 years of combined military service. He married Louise Melcher of Fedor, Texas in 1946 and this union was blessed with four sons. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mart. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnnie and Ernest Beran. Bennie loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and gardening, was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time with his family at the lake or in the back yard. Bennie was a member of Elk SPJST and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bennie is survived by his wife of 59 years; Louise, sons Ray Beran and wife Pam of Desoto; Wayne Beran and wife Cheryl of Victoria; Glenn Beran and wife Connie of Indianapolis, Indiana; Thomas Beran and wife Deby of Hobbs, New Mexico; brother Walter Beran and wife Annette of Venice, California; sister-in-law Erna Beran of Suisun, California; and grandchildren Lisa Dennis and husband Johnny; Amy Lee and husband Wil; Sara Beran; David Beran; Courtney Beran; Brian Beran; Blake Beran; Lynlee Beran and Marina Beran. Pallbearers will be grandsons David Beran, Blake Beran, Brian Beran and nephews Delbert Melcher, John Beran, Richard Wayne Melcher. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Hospice, 3215 Pine, Waco, Texas, 76708 or to Grace Lutheran Church, 106 S. Carpenter, Mart, Texas, 76664.
