McCall, Bertha Berry April 5, 1918 – October 2, 2005 Bertha Berry McCall, 87, of Waco, passed away October 2, 2005 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 5 at Waco Memorial North Cemetery with Minister Leroy Carver officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, October 4, from 6-8 pm at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey in the Garden Room. Bertha was born in April 5, 1918 in Waco, Texas. She married Cecil Berry November 18, 1934 and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1953 during the Waco tornado. Bertha worked for over 50 years as an ordained minister in many local jails and prisons. She brought so many young men to Christ as a servant of God. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She also loved cooking, quilting, gardening and she loved her flowers. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bobby Berry. Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn Berry of Waco; son, J.R. Berry of Cortez, CO; step-sons, Charles Berry of Denton and Billy Berry of Kerrville; grandsons, Raymond Berry of Atlanta and Douglas Berry of Houston; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a world of friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses at St. Catherine’s and the Providence Hospice Group.
