MILLER, BERTHA ROEDER Bertha Roeder Miller, age 93, died peacefully at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday, August 6, 2003. Her family was by her side. Services will be held at 1:30pm Friday, August 8 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd with The Rev. Frank Mangum officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Bertha was born on March 22, 1910 in McGregor to Richard and Annie Roeder. She attended South Bosque schools where she played basketball. In December 1929, Bertha was married to Clarence Leonard Miller. They lived in Waco and opened the family business, Clarence Miller Autos, in 1931. Clarence died in 1953, and Bertha continued in the business, along with her son, Floyd, until her death. Bertha will always be remembered for her strong sense of family love and her strength in character. Her love of flowers, cooking, football and caring ways with people will always be remembered by her family and friends. The Miller family will always remember the reunion trip to New York on Thanksgiving, 2002 where Bertha attended three Broadway shows and watched her great grandchildren ride on a float in the Macy’s Day Parade. She was a vivacious and strong willed woman until her accident in March. Still she remained strong by her faith in God until her death. Bertha was a member and attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for many years. Bertha is survived by her only son Floyd L. Miller and his wife, Barbara of Waco; grandson Ross Lee Miller and his wife Suzanne of San Marcos and great grandchildren, Mallory and Milam Miller; granddaughter Ginger Ann Lovelace and her husband John of Waco and great grandson Trae Lovelace. Survivors also include one brother, Bill Roeder and his wife Irene of Waco and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Bill Miller, Diz Dean, Charles Pearson, Reese Killion, George Cross, Harvey Pierce, Mike Miller, Bob Cervenka, and Charles Richard Roeder. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Swenson, Dr. Bryan Harris, Allen Miller, Jr., and Allen Miller, III “Trey”.
