On May 30th, 2016, God took the hand of Bess Post, his faithful servant. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2, at Providence Park Chapel. A private family burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery prior to the memorial service. Bess was born August 25, 1926 in Chicago Illinois to Mary Emma Townsend Ericksen and Olaf Christian Ericksen, the second of four children. Bess graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago and soon after met and married Ralph Hardy Post, who served proudly in World War II. After his tour of duty, they married on October 21, 1945. During their long and happy marriage, they celebrated the birth of two children, Adonna Lea and Jack Hardy, enjoyed many trips around the world, and made many lifelong friends. Bess retired from Sears after working in the credit department for 33 years. Her true joy in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved playing bridge, golf, and helping others. She had a servant's heart and a smile that lit up a room. One of her proudest moments was celebrating the 70th anniversary of her marriage to Ralph Post on October 17th, 2015. Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Florence and Mary; brother, Bill; brother-in-law, Orville Post; and son-in-law, Kenneth Cook. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, Ralph Post; her son, Jack Post and wife Susan, and daughter, Adonna Post Cook; five grandchildren, Eric Cook and wife, Alison, Chris Cook and wife, Karen, Ryan Cook and wife, Tamme, Julie Post Glass and husband, Mel, and Katie Post; and five great-grandchildren, Dalton, Hunter, Calla, Collin, and Matthew Cook; sister-in-law, Frances Post; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The family is deeply appreciative of the Hillcrest SICU doctors and staff for their excellent care and concern. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www. WHBfamily.com.
