Betty Hilliard of Waco passed away Monday, December 10, 2007. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room, with Dr. Bruce Cresson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. She will be in state Wednesday, December 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Elizabeth Jeanette Peters was born May 6, 1921, in Giddings, TX, to Albert John Peters, Sr. and Margaret Kelly Peters. She graduated from Bryan High School, attended Baylor University and graduated from Texas Womens University in 1943. On June 30, 1943, she married James Milton Hilliard and they celebrated over 60 years of marriage. Betty was employed as dietitian at Providence Hospital. After having their family she was employed as a teacher in Waco ISD. She and her family have been long time members of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, where Betty was a member of the Cresson Sunday School Class. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister. She is survived by three children, Dan Craig Hilliard and wife, Jennifer, of Georgetown; Kaye Hilliard Smith and husband, Steve, of Woodway; and Suzanne Hilliard of Hewitt; grandchildren, Kimberly Smith Back and husband, Ryan; Kevin Mark Smith and wife, Michelle; Melanie Robin Smith; Zachary Ross McFarlen and wife, Sara; and Emily McFarlen Garvin and husband, Chris; great grandsons, Cody Mitchell Back and Justin Michael Back; sister, Lois Cook and brother, Albert J. Peters, Jr. Memorials may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
