Betty Lewis Patton August 22, 1926 - April 30, 2013 Betty Lewis Patton of Waco left for Heaven Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Kip Osborne officiating. A private burial will be at Kosse Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Betty was born August 22, 1926 in Kosse, Texas, to John and Bertral Lewis. She grew up in the small country town of Kosse and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1943. After Morris returned from WWII, they met at the VA Hospital in Waco, where they both worked. They were married 57 years. After her last child began school, she started working as an educational assistant for WISD, retiring in 1986. After retirement she and her husband lived part time in Kosse at their ranch, enjoying the country life. She was a true animal lover, owning a beloved poodle, Brandie, and numerous cats. After the death of Morris in 2004, she moved to Lake Shore Estates where she made many wonderful friends. Betty enjoyed doing crafts, playing 42, Skip-Bo, Scrabble and was Wii Bowling Champion at the retirement center. Betty was a long time member of Western Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris Patton; and her daughter, Janine Patton. She is survived by her children, Larry Patton and wife, Jackie, David Patton and wife, Pat, and Kathi Summers and husband, Clay; granddaughter, Lindsey Stevens and husband, Cal, four grandsons, Matt Kruger and wife, Julie, Andrew Kruger and wife, Rebekah, Jason Kruger and fiance, Katie Morgan and Cory Summers and wife, Melanie; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Kamryn and Caleb Kruger, and Easton Summers; and her extended family and friends. The family wants to thank Westview Manor for the love and compassion they gave her and her family; and Kay and other staff members of Providence Hospice.
