Betty Lou (Wood) Alexander passed from this life on December 4, 2016 having reached the age of 80 years. Betty was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 30, 1936 to Velma and Thomas Wood. She grew up in Wichita Falls and worked various jobs while in high school. She attended Abilene Christian College where she met and married Robert W. Alexander, with whom she had three sons: Wayne, Michael, and Larry. She spent the next 22 years raising her sons at home in Houston, Texas. Upon Larry’s graduation from high school, she took a job as a bookkeeper for Myrtle Cruz, Inc. (Houston) where she worked for the next 30 years. She spent her last years in Waco, living first with her son Michael, then at Stoney Brook Retirement Center. Betty was an avid gardener and filled the yard at her Houston home with all kinds of plants and flowers. She was a registered Master Gardner and a member of the Houston Master Gardeners Association for many years. She loved visiting the various arboretums and nature preserves in her area. She was also an avid reader, with bookshelves full of political, historical, and fiction books and novels.
