Betty Lou DiCorte May 17, 1935 - January 12, 2016 Betty Lou DiCorte of Waco passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Betty was born May 17, 1935, in Chesterton, Indiana, to Charles and Dorothy Weaver. After high school she joined the U.S. Navy at San Diego, CA as a nurse. She was a Naval Reservist during the Korean War and was a poster girl for the WAVES program. While serving in the Navy, she met and married Mike DiCorte. She retired from McLennan County Child Protective Services. Betty adored and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved listening to music and painting. Betty touched many lives and never knew a stranger. Betty was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. She was preceded in death by her parents; and all her siblings. She is survived by her children, Mike DiCorte and wife, Luci, Mark DiCorte and wife, Darla, David DiCorte and wife, Dina, Kim Bassett and husband, Bobby, and Billy DiCorte and wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Michael, Billy Frank, Jessica, Kristi, Kelli, Ashlee and Brandy; one great grandson to be, Charlie. Pallbearers are Michael William DiCorte, Billy Frank DiCorte, Jr., Bobby Joe Bassett and Charlie Pickens III. The family would like to give thanks to the staff at Royal Manor, Southern Hospice and Stillwell Retirement Residence. A special thanks to Dr. Chakmakjian.
