Betty Ruth Shannon September 12, 1937 - January 14, 2008 Betty Ruth Shannon of Waco passed away Monday, January 14, 2008. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Dorisanne Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Betty was born September 12, 1937 in Jellico, TN to Hazel Douglas and Clyde Brock, graduating from Jellico High School. She and Dewey Shannon met in Chicago, Illinois and were married in 1954. Betty was a wonderful homemaker and incredibly talented in many ways. She loved gardening and had a passion for interior design. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dewey Shannon of Waco; sons, Michael and Darryl Shannon; daughters, Elizabeth Acker and husband, John; and Cassandra Nunley and husband, Pat; grandchildren, Taryn, Candyce, Alexandrea, Victoria, Christian and Jordan; sisters, Cherry Oakes and husband, Charles; Vicki Carlson. Pallbearers are Michael Shannon, Darryl Shannon, Jordan Diaz, Pat Nunley, Melvin Socia and Benny Parker.
