Betty Sue Gilbert January 9, 1945 - July 6, 2012 Betty Sue Gilbert of Waco, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2012 surrounded by her family. Please join the family at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home from 4:00 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, as we celebrate and reminisce about Sue's life. All are welcome, light refreshments will be served. According to her wishes, the family will gather in Banff, Canada to scatter her ashes in the Bow River Valley where she and her family spent many happy ski vacations. Sue Farris was born on January 9, 1945 to Ellis and Margaret Farris in Waco. She was a lifelong educator, devoting most of her career to special needs students in the Connally and LaVega School Districts. She was a devoted mother to four boys and two grandchildren. She loved to travel and spend time on Lake Whitney with her husband, the love of her life. Sue was a longtime member of Lakewood Christian Church. During her illness, she was a member of the Heart of Texas Parkinson's and Caregivers Support Group HOTPACS. She is survived by her father, Ellis Farris of Waco; her husband of 30 years, Ronnie C. Gilbert; four sons, Randy Gilbert and wife, Mimi of Grapevine, TX; Richard Martin and partner, Vern Gransden of New Orleans, LA; Darren Gilbert and Michelle Porter of Elgin, TX and John Martin and wife, Jana of Arlington, TX; and two granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Gilbert of Grapevine, TX; two sisters, Patsy Farris of Waco and Nancy Reynolds and husband, Tom, of Belton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name, Betty Sue Gilbert, to HOTPACS at 101 S. Lakeview Dr., Waco 76705.
