Betty Sue Schwan July 29, 1926 – March 7, 2006 Betty Sue Schwan, 79, of Plano, Texas died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Friday, March 10 at Rosemound Cemetery with Rev. Drew Wilson officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 9 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque. Betty was born July 29, 1926 in Waco, TX to W. J. “Bill” Schwan and Elizabeth Baxter Schwan. She attended Waco schools, graduating from Waco High School in 1943. She graduated from Wayland Baptist College and received her Masters degree in Elementary Education from North Texas State University. She taught at Dover Elementary and Arapaho Elementary in Richardson, TX and was a librarian for several years before her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dallas. After moving back to Waco in 2004, she joined the congregation at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-parents, Priscilla and Guy Harrell and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by a sister, Barbara Perkins and her husband, Bill of McGregor; brother, W. J. “Jack” Schwan and wife, Beverly of Waco; nieces, Pam Jones and husband, Tom of Ponca City, OK, Debbi Unger of Waco, Tamara Hicks, Kim Littlewood and husband, David of McGregor and Karen Schechter and husband, David of College Station, TX; thirteen great nieces and nephews and two great, great nephews and one great, great niece. She was a beloved sister, aunt, teacher and friend. Memorials may be made to Park Lake Drive Baptist Church.
