Bettye Kyle Guthrie

Bettye Kyle Guthrie September 13, 1928 - May 26, 2008 Bettye Kyle Guthrie of Waco passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at her residence. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit with Father John Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Bettye was born September 13, 1928 in Waco, Texas to G.W. and Halla Mae Lee. She was a diagnostician at McGregor, Midway and Waco ISD, and was a member of the Baylor University faculty. Bettye has been a long time and active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. She was also an avid duplicate bridge player and unselfishly gave of her time to the Meals-On-Wheels ministry. She was preceded in death by her father G. W. Lee, mother Halla Mae Pinnix Lee. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, J. Douglas Guthrie, Jr.; son, J. D. Guthrie III and wife, Rebecca, of Waco; daughter, Kyle Guthrie Thomas and husband, Kenneth, of Waco; grandson, J. Douglas "Jed" Guthrie IV, granddaughter, Emily Thomas; and her cousin, James Stell. Memorials may be made to Episcopal Chuch of the Holy Spirit and Meals-on-Wheels.
