Beverly Sue Nix, went to be with the Lord, October 21, 2024, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born May 3 1945, in Waco, she embodied a spirit of warmth and compassion that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 4 PM to 6 PM, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, located at 6101 Bosque Blvd, in Waco. A service celebrating Beverly’s life and her devotion to family will be Monday, October 28th at 10:00AM in the chapel at Wikirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with graveside to follow at Axtell Cemetery. Honoring Beverly pallbearers will be Robert Thompson, Josh Thompson, Joseph Thompson, Charlie Woods, Jay Youngblood, and Dusty Youngblood.
Beverly dedicated over 30 years of her life to the banking industry, where she made her mark in the Accounting Department. Her colleagues will remember her not just for her professional skills, but for her kindness and willingness to help others—a trait that defined her personality throughout her life.
Beverly’s family was her true pride and joy. She raised her children and grandchildren with unwavering devotion, often reminding them of the importance of kindness and support. Beverly had a special affinity for those with special needs, passionately dedicating time to assist those around her and in her family to find their paths in life.
Her love for her family extended beyond nurturing and caring; she created joyous memories that will long be cherished. Notably, in 2014, upon her retirement, her friends and family gifted her a hot air balloon ride, an experience that resonated with her love for adventure and appreciation for the beauty of life. She enjoyed attending the Hot Air Balloon Festival in both Plano and Albuquerque, and her heart danced in tandem with the vibrant colors soaring in the sky.
Beverly’s dedication to her family was evident in everything she did. She is survived by her loving children; daughter, Tammy Thompson; son, Robert Thompson, and his wife, Rénea; her dear sister and running buddy, Cindy Youngblood; and her cherished grandsons, Josh Thompson and Joseph Thompson; her granddaughter, Kyla Ballard, along with great-grandchildren, Harley, Manhatten, Shyanne, and Adalynn, will forever carry forward her legacy of love. Beverly also leaves behind numerous friends and extended family who deeply appreciated her nurturing spirit.
Though she faced many challenges, especially in her later years with the passing of her husband of over 39 years, Bill Nix, and her son Butch Nix, Beverly's strength never wavered. She was also preceded by her parents, Frank and Vivian Whitworth Dyer; her sister, Mary Ann Moffett; her brother-in-law, Dean Youngblood; and her great-great-granddaughter, Z'vayah Rae Thompson.
Beverly enjoyed many hobbies, from the thrill of bowling—where she celebrated numerous tournament victories—to cherishing moments spent camping with her family in Colorado and Speegleville Park. She found delight in watching and feeding cardinals and had a fondness for collecting Angels. Known for her love of Dr. Pepper, it was the little things in life that brought her immense joy.
Beverly Sue Nix will be remembered not only for the milestones she achieved and the roles she played in her family and community but also for the difference she made in the lives of those around her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support will endure in the hearts of everyone she touched.
