Beverly Sue Heckenlively, 80, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at Ascension Living Providence Village in Waco. Services and interment will take place on July 2 in Evergreen, Colorado. Known to her friends simply as “Sue”, she was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and grew up in the Park Hill area of Denver. She graduated from East High School in 1959 and received her B.A. from Colorado State University in 1963. She married Donald Bruce Heckenlively on August 23, 1963. Working primarily as a homemaker, she lived briefly in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Ann Arbor, Michigan, before the family moved to Hillsdale, Michigan, in 1974. She moved to Spring Arbor, Michigan, in 1996, and Texas in 2015. She loved literature, philosophy, and theology, and was known for both her reflective nature and a sometimes whimsical sense of humor. She also loved nature and animals. She was a devout Christian throughout her adult life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Thelma, and her sister, Nancy Kay. She is survived by her sons, Patrick Allen and Timothy Scott Heckenlively, their wives, and six grandchildren. Memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org).
