William “Bill” Burton Conine, Jr., 62, passed away on January 13, 2017. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Buddy Powell officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, with a Rosary service at 5:30 p.m, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Bill was born in Bitburg, Germany, on November 16, 1954, to William Burton Conine, Sr., and Francis Elizabeth McCoy Conine. He grew up in Germany, Spain and England, because his father was an officer in the United States Air Force. They moved to Waco, Texas, when his father retired. Fran became a realtor and opened Conine Group Realtors. Bill graduated from Waco High School in 1973 and attended McLennan Community College. He married Karen Nielsen on April 4, 1974. He worked in accounting and finance, starting his career at Citizens Bank. He joined Associates Financial Services, and the couple lived in North Dakota and Beaumont, Texas, before returning to Waco in 1980. He then worked in the automotive industry for 30 years. He was the Controller for Frank Weaver Pontiac for 17 years and then worked as Controller at Ridgewood Country Club and Senior Consultant at ADP Automotives, retiring early for medical reasons. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and Hedonia. He served as a United Way Loaned Executive for several years - Bill and Karen served as HWF Brazos River Festival Chairmen in 1993, co-chairmen of The Art Center Gala in 1988 and on the St. Louis Catholic School Building Fund committee. He enjoyed snow skiing, scuba diving and traveling with Karen and the boys, extended family and friends. Bill was proceeded in death by his parents; and his brother, William Bradford Conine. Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years; two sons, Adam and Amanda Conine of San Antonio, and Aaron and Anne Conine of Fort Worth; his brother, Bruce Conine of Waco; grandchildren, Caroline, Eloise and Camilla of San Antonio and Blake, Amelia and Mary of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
