BURT, BILLIE Billie Boyd Burt, 88 of China Spring, entered life eternal on Wednesday, August 11, 2004. Services will be at 11:30am Saturday, August 14 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Paul A. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Friday, August 13 at the funeral home. Billie was born May 21, 1916 in Erath, Texas, son of Charles W. and Rachel Goodman Burt. He attended schools in Erath and China Spring. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On February 22, 1941, he married the love of his life, Virginia Ruth Ginger Grimes, in San Diego, California. They moved to Houston in 1945, where he worked for the Houston Transit Authority. In 1952, he and Ginger moved to China Spring, where he was a dairy farmer. Billie and Ginger lived there until their deaths. Billie was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ginger, five brothers, two sisters and a grandson. Survivors include daughters, Linda Kroll and husband, Vernon of China Spring, Peggy Kerr and husband, Jimmie of China Spring, and Ann Owen and husband, Marshall of Woodway; sons, Bill Burt and wife, Sandi of Levelland, Larry Burt and wife, Glenda of Longview, and Greg Burt and wife, Kathy of Valley Mills; sister, Juanita McBride of Bend, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lance Burt, Kyle Burt, Kade Burt, Wendell Burt, Todd Kroll, Duane Kerr, Brian Kerr, Jerry Pierce and Cameron Owen; special nephew, Joe Burt and special family friend Alex Dominguez. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. A special thank you to the nurses at Providence Hospital, wing 4N, especially to Audry, Dena and Miriam.
