Billie Sue Mullen February 19, 1934 - April 14, 2010 Billie Sue Mullen, 76, died in a local hospital on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 19 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. David Spain of Norman, Oklahoma officiating. Billie Sue was born February 19, 1934, in Waco to Leona and Billie Mullen. She graduated from Waco High School in 1951. After attending Texas Tech for two years she returned to Waco and graduated from Baylor University in 1956. For 32 years Billie Sue worked as a Recreational Therapist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Waco. She loved her work with service men and women and they returned their love for her, many of them becoming life-long friends. Billie Sue loved animals and nature as well as people. She often rescued and provided homes for stray cats and dogs. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and boating in Central Texas lakes and streams. She was a superb gardener and took great pride and pleasure in her beautiful back yard. Billie Sue's family and many friends remember her for her sense of humor, quick wit, and her lengthy repertoire of amusing stories. She liked nothing better than hearing and passing on funny jokes. Billie Sue was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Ann Brister. She is survived by two sisters, Nonie Orr and Helen Hubler, both of Clifton, a number of nieces and nephews and special friend, Barbara Garland.
