Billy Dewey Laughlin

November 11, 1934 — March 28, 2024

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and avid Baylor Bear, Billy Dewey Laughlin, passed away peacefully and began his Easter celebration early on March 28, 2024, at age 89 in Waco, Texas.

There will be a celebration of Billy’s life with visitation at 1:00 p.m., and service at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. All are welcome to join the family for his burial at 4:00 p.m., in Falls County Texas, at Mooreville Cemetery.

Billy led a long life while courageously fighting Parkinson’s disease. Billy was born in Mooreville, Texas, and later moved to Waco where he graduated from Waco High School in 1954. He married and had three daughters who he loved and adored. Billy married Linda Willmann on November 3, 1979, and they had forty-four years of a beautiful marriage together. Billy’s career spanned forty plus years with General Tire & Rubber Company where he also served on the board of GENCO Credit Union. He was a lifelong member of First Methodist Church in Waco. Billy enjoyed all sports, but especially his Baylor Bears, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Houston Astros.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Dewey Laughlin; his father and mother-in-law, R.C. and Bessie Wilhite; as well as many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Linda Laughlin; his three daughters, Lea Anne Laughlin, Lori Dalton and husband John, and Lisa Cook and husband Loch; and his six grandchildren, Matthew Dalton and wife Kathryn, Andrew Dalton, Sarah Dalton, Carson Cook, Connor Cook, and John Cameron Cook. He is also survived by his stepsons, Steve Willmann and wife Cyndi, and Russell Willmann and wife Preshia; his granddaughter, Tiffany Pifer and husband Zach; his grandson, Dylan Willmann and wife Marissa; and great-grandson, Miles Pifer.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Catherine’s Center for their kindness and compassion during Billy’s time there.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests memorials to be made to the Mooreville Cemetery Association in care of Ann Phelps, at 263 County Road 499A Chilton, Texas 76632 or a charity of your choice.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory on Billy’s “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
