Billy Duane Tennyson August 20, 1922 – April 30, 2007 Billy Duane Tennyson, 84, of Hewitt, passed away Monday, April 30 after a long battle with cancer. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3 at Hewitt First Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park.. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Bill was born in Crawford, TX to Willie Bill Bradshaw and Charlie Jerome Tennyson. He was a 1940 graduate of Waco High School. He served in the U.S. Navy 1940-1960 during World War II and the Korean War. After retiring from the Navy, he became a Special Agent with U.S. Customs 1960-1980. Bill married Mary Margaret Scott of Columbus, OH and was blessed with two children, Michael and Michele. After Margie’s death, he married Toni Joan McCloskey of Columbia, SC and gained three more children, Donald, Gary and Vickie McCloskey. After retirement from Customs, Bill returned home to Texas where he became involved in his community as a councilman for the City of Hewitt for many years and a long-time member of the Hewitt Lions Club. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, and brothers, Durward and Carroll. Survivors include, wife, Toni of Hewitt, sister, Doris Brigance of West Columbia, TX; son, Michael Tennyson and wife, Evelyn of Dallas, TX; daughter, Michele Tennyson of Whitney, TX; stepsons, Donald McCloskey and wife, Deneise of Gaston, SC and Gary McCloskey of Elm Mott, TX; stepdaughter, Vickie Ward and husband, L.C. of Odessa, TX; grandchildren: Analese Tennyson and Taylor Radke; step-grandchildren: Jamie, Christian and Grant McCloskey, Kim, Gary, Jr., Samantha McCloskey, Ryan Dodd and Joshua Ward; step-great-grandchildren: Brycen Dodd and Zoe Waddell and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Bill Brigance, Bob Pohls, Ray May, Harry Cleveland, Bill Malone and Scott Brigance. The family requests memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
