Billy E. Haddox, born on March 20, 1940, in Purdon, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. His departure leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to the life of a truly remarkable man.
As we gather to remember and honor Bill Haddox, we find solace in the memory of a man whose spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he loved. A memorial gathering will be held on March 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, which would have been his 85th birthday, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM on March 21, 2025, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Texas.
Bill's professional journey began in 1963 when he entered the world of insurance, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to his community and his commitment to serving others. In 1965 he joined Farmers Insurance Group. For 14 years Bill was a nationally recognized top producer. Then, in 1979, he took a bold step to become an independent agent, founding Bill Haddox Insurance. This venture became a pillar of service within the community and thrived under his leadership for many years. He wasn't merely content with one stream of success; Bill diversified and undertook various business investments, always searching for new ways to uplift those around him.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served three years as a Morse Code Operator stationed in Thailand. It was upon returning home that he met the love of his life, Dixie Sechrist, who would remain his beloved partner for almost six decades. Married on August 13, 1965, their bond exemplified love and partnership in its purest form.
Bill was deeply passionate about business discussions and exploring investment opportunities, always engaging anyone who would listen. However, his most profound pride came from his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, blessed by his wife, Dixie and with his daughters, Traci Haddox Brennan and her husband, David, and Michelle Haddox Pritchett. Bill cherished every moment spent with his adoring grandchildren: Braden Pritchett, Caitlin Brennan, Jillian Brennan, and Jacob Pritchett, who brought boundless joy to his life.
With a heart overflowing with warmth, Bill touched the lives of countless community members and friends, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and support. He was preceded by his mother, Christina McCraw Hansen; step-father, Elwain Hansen; his father, Audean F. Haddox; and sister, Cassandra Haddox Bowen.
Bill's family will always cherish the unwavering love and compassion shown by his dedicated caregivers, Salina Cervantez and Azhia Childers, who have stood by his side for over three remarkable years. Their devotion has been a true source of comfort during difficult times. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional hospice team from Halcyon Hospice, including Michelle Dunnam and Sierra Fleet, whose support has made an invaluable difference in Bill's journey.
Bill's legacy will continue through his family and community, always reminding us of the bonds we share and the love we carry within.
The family invites you to share a memory or a message in Bill's online "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WHBfamily.com.
