Billy Joe B. J. Talley

TALLEY, BILLY JOE B. J. Billy Joe B. J. Talley, age 72 of Waco, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 at a local nursing home. Services will be at 3:30pm Tuesday, September 28 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Michael O. Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Mr. Talley was the best husband, daddy and papaw in the world. He was born November 25, 1931 in Waco to Joe and Bea Talley. He lived briefly in Odessa. He graduated from Waco Tech and served in the Marine Corp from January 1951 until June 1952 and retired as sergeant. B. J. married Iris Ferguson March 6, 1953. He went to work for General Tire in 1951 and retired in 1982. After retirement, he worked part time for TRC and Armstrong McCall. He was a lifetime supporter of all Baylor Athletics. He loved drag racing, bowling and the family houseboat for 23 years. He loved his Partners Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents and his favorite aunt, Billie Dunson. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Iris Talley; daughters, Cindy George of Austin and Laurie Rendon of Waco; son, Rick Talley and wife, Susan of Hewitt; grandchildren, Chris, Jessica and Jennifer Talley, Melissa Ruch, Mindy Rendon, Matthew, Austin and Luke George, and Angela Allensworth and husband, Cody; great grandchildren, Cameron Ruch and Colby Allensworth; brother, Thomas Talley and wife, Louise of Arlington; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend and companion, his dog, Ginny. Pallbearers will be Chris Talley, Matthew George, Bob Ferguson, Ron Ferguson, Don Crymes, and Mike Plotkowski. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Birdsong, Jerry Brewster, Boyd Williams, Don Young and Clifford Rounsavall. The family wishes to express gratitude to St. Catherine Center and give special thanks to Paul. Memorials may be made to Baylor Singing Seniors or Western Heights Baptist Church.
