July 6, 1937 — February 13, 2004

LOPER, BILLY “BILL” Billy Earl Loper, age 66 of Riesel entered peace and eternal rest with his Lord Friday, February 13, 2004 in Mart. Services will be held at 2pm Monday, February 16 in Riesel at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Daniel Pike officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 4-6pm Sunday, February 15 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Billy was born in Calvert July 6, 1937 to Jesse James and Mary Lorene Turman Loper. He attended school in the Calvert community. He spent the majority of his young adult years in Houston, working in industrial maintenance and supervision. In the 70’s he returned to the Central Texas area, retiring in 2001 from M & M Mars. He remained active with his contract maintenance business until his recent battle with cancer. Billy was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to countless. He never met a stranger and his compassion for helping others was surpassed only by his love for his family. Billy married Audrey Avery in September 1954 in Limestone County. She preceded him in death in October 1984. In 1986 Billy married Linda McGregor Ewing in McLennan County. She preceded him in death in February 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James Loper, Rayburn Loper and Leon Loper. He is survived by his children, Teresa Voges and husband, Lloyd of Riesel, Michael Loper and wife, Alice of McKinney, Jeff Ewing and wife, Regina of Allen, and Kelly Johnson of Austin; grandchildren, Roman Loper, Haven Loper, Nicholas Ewing, Jacob Ewing, and Zachary Johnson; siblings, Jesse Loper and wife, Margie of Hico, Alfred Loper and wife, Pat of Bryan and Patsy Lenox and husband, Larry of Carlton, and numerous nieces and nephews who were all very special to him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hillcrest Hospice, American Cancer Society or Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
