Billy M. Collier passed away at his home on May 4th 2023. Services will be held Monday May 8th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey at 10am with Rev. Tim Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bill was born in Goldthwaite, Texas on November 12, 1929. He was the proud son of Thomas and Bell Collier. He was proud to be from Goldthwaite, where he was active in FFA and voted most popular his junior year of high school. He graduated from Texas Technological College in 1951 with a degree in animal husbandry. After college, he was drafted into the Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. After discharge, he went to work with the Extension Service in Navarro County. During this time in Corsicana he met and fell in love with Martha Jo Price. Bill and Martha were married in 1955. Bill continued his career in the extension service working in Kaufman County. He then took the position of county agent in Clay County, where he and Martha began their family. In 1966, the Colliers moved to Waco and Bill served as County Agricultural Extension Agent until his retirement in 1988. During this career in McLennan County, Bill was elected President of the Texas Association of County Extension Agents. Bill was also active with Blackland Income Growth (BIG) Association and various other organizations promoting agriculture. After retirement, he continued to work with the Waco Chamber of Commerce as the agriculture director.
Bill was proceeded in death by daughter, Carol Collier, his parents, Thomas and Bell Collier and his older brother, Glynn Collier.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Martha, his son, Craig and wife, Kay of Brownwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cydney Collier and finance, Andy James of Waco, Erin Hutson and husband, Colby of Amarillo, and Steven Proctor and wife, Mabry of Keller. Bill is also survived by his great grandchildren, Brooks Hutson and Harlow Proctor.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials be made to Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church.
