ROWLAND, BLANCHE EATON Blanche Eaton Rowland died Friday, August 30, 2002. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, September 3 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Tom Robbins officiating. Services are under the direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Rowland was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on November 7, 1900 to Della Mae and Joel Marion Eaton. She moved to Brownwood, Texas with her family in 1916. Her father built the first oil refinery in Central Texas. She graduated from Howard Payne College, and in 1921 married Carl Daniel McIntosh, who died in 1932. She married A.P. Rowland, an executive with Lone Star Gas Company, and they moved to Waco in 1939. She was interested in church and civic activities all her life. Chairman of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church, she was also chairman of the women’s division of the Greater Waco United Fund and of the women’s division of the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Henry Downs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Phillip Livingston Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists, the Waco Press Club and the Buckleberry Club. After moving to Fort Worth in 1956, she served on the administrative Board of First United Methodist Church, was president of Fort Worth District West, and the YWCA. She was a member of the Fort Worth Club, Monday Book Club, the Opera Guild, and the Service to Military Families of the American Red Cross. She is survived by her daughter Betty Jackson of Waco; her son and daughter-in-law Carl and Janis McIntosh of Waco; seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and two great great granddaughters. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dr. Thomas H. Jackson, III, James Rowland Jackson, Carl Daniel McIntosh, III, Donald Edward McIntosh, Dewitt Hicks McIntosh, Joel Eaton McIntosh, and Ronnie L. Glaesmann.
