Blanche Gregory Heussner

Blanche Gregory Heussner, 99, passed away on July 23, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Sugarland, Texas. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 27 at 10 am at Oakwood Cemetery. Blanche was born February 14, 1923, to John Reagan and Veda Sue Gregory. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles Heussner, and her sister, Betty Sue Griffin. Blanche is survived by her four children, Kay Makowsky of Sugarland, John Heussner and his wife, Mary Ann of Cashiers, North Carolina, Judi Reinert of Dallas, Rick Heussner and his wife Kami of Kemah. “Grannies” was the much loved grandmother of Jill Boyd (Kyle) of Dallas, Shelley Wainer (John) of Prosper, Greg Makowsky of Dallas, Nina Reinert of Dallas, Richie Heussner of Austin, Holly (Alec) Hinojosa of Virginia, and Peyton Heussner of Waco. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren Caroline Wainer, Jack Wainer, and Gigi Boyd. After raising her four children, Blanche completed her BA degree at Baylor University. She was passionate about education, and taught first and second grade for more than 20 years at Alta Vista Elementary School in Waco. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Waco where she taught Sunday school, and lovingly served as a volunteer for the community outreach Dorcas sewing ministry for many years. She was fervent about her love of God and belief and faith in Jesus Christ. She was also a dog and cat lover and had many beloved pet companions throughout her life. She was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The loves of her life were her children, whom she adored.
