Bowman Alva Price May 31, 1932 - January 7, 2014 Bowman Alva Price of Waco passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Providence Hospital. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 11, at Rosemound Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Jarrell officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Bowman was born May 31, 1932, in Smithville, Georgia, to Alva and Susie Price. After graduation from high school in Camilla, Georgia, he immediately joined the Air Force. He graduated as a radar officer from James Connally AFB of Waco in 1953 and later completed pilot training. He spent most of his career as a flight training supervisor and air operations officer in the Air Training Command. He served overseas duties in Germany, Thailand and Vietnam and holds the Air Medal with eight Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. Bowman was a member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church in Waco, where he was president of the Friendship Class, Building and Grounds Committee, a Volunteer/Driver for Meals on Wheels and the Archives Committee. He was an active member of the Central Texas Genealogical Society and volunteered at the Waco-McLennan County Library. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Susie Price; brother, Robert; and sister, Beverly. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Price of Waco; one daughter, Suellen Price; two sons, Eric Price of Friendswood, Texas, and Mark Price of Broomfield, Colorado; one brother, Roy Price of Lilburn, Georgia; one sister, Francis Parker of Camilla, Georgia; three grandchildren, Robin Davis and Jessica and Alex Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Jaylyn and Declan Davis.
