Boyd Gilbert Miller July 27, 1925 May 2, 2009 Boyd Gilbert Miller, 83, of Waco died May 2, 2009, at Providence Health Care Center. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Minden, Texas with Rev. Jim Rhodes and Rev. Paul Thomasson officiating. A memorial service will be on 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8th at Lake Shore Baptist Church, Waco, with Rev. Dorisanne Cooper, Rev. Sharlande Sledge and Rev. Charles Wyatt officiating. Boyd was born on July 27, 1925, in Denison, Texas. His parents were Ira Herbert Miller and Mary Louise Lively Miller. After graduating from Brownfield High School in 1943, he served honorably in the U. S. Army 162nd Infantry Regiment in campaigns in the Philippine Islands and the occupation of Japan. He married JoAnn Orr on November 28, 1958. He reluctantly retired in 1996 after many years as a successful business owner in Abilene, Brownwood and Longview. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Lake Shore Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, one son, Gary and wife, Beth; two daughters, Caryl Miller-Compton and husband Kevin, and Karyn Miller, all of Waco; one brother, Stanley Miller and wife, Zelma of Brownfield, Texas; one sister-in-law, Dovie Miller of Tahoka, Texas; grandchildren Molly Hepp, Thomas Miller, David Miller, Andrew Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Kyle Compton, Ross Compton, Koby Compton, and twelve nieces and nephews. The family is very appreciative of the loving care Boyd received from Wesley Woods, Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice.
