He then completed a residency in psychiatry at UTMB, graduating in 1978. After practicing psychiatry in El Paso for 6 years, Brock and his family moved to Waco to be closer to the family ranch in Ireland, Texas. Brock devoted his life to selflessly caring for thousands of Waco residents and will be remembered for his unique personality, his cowboy boots and blue jeans, and the numerous lives that he saved from debilitating psychiatric illnesses. Other accomplishments include serving as the current president of the University of Texas Psychiatric Alumni Association and being named "Conservationist Ranch of the Year" by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Texas. His other passions included working on projects at his family ranch, including building 10.5 miles of high fence by hand and using the bulldozer to clear endless acres of troublesome cedar trees. All would agree that Brock found the greatest pleasure in spending time with his family and friends, most especially, his 3 grandchildren, who called him "Pops."
