Bruce Allen Roberts June 25, 1959 – April 19, 2010 Bruce Allen Roberts of Austin, formerly of Waco, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 23, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Bruce was born June 25, 1959, in Heidelberg, Germany, to Roy and Bennie Roberts. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1978 and attended 2 years at Alvin Community College. In 1980 Bruce was involved in a single car accident that drastically changed his plans of his education and career. In 2007 he was enrolled in the post-head trauma rehabilitation program at the Mary Lee Foundation in Austin and completed the program with the rating of “Model Student”. He continued to reside at the Foundation Facilities and recently worked at Target in Austin. Bruce was a member of McKinney Avenue Baptist Church of Austin. He is survived by his parents; his brother, Dr. Mark A. Roberts and wife, Victry, of Athens, TX; and many dear friends. Pallbearers are Dale Blackburn, Melvin Hood, David Alford, Dr. Richie Scott, Tom Ray, Larry Wayman, Brad Wilson and Jeff Cockerham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund or the charity of choice.
