Buford H. Hitt, 84, passed away Monday, September 05, 2005. Graveside service will be at 11:30 am, Wednesday, September 7 at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 - 8 pm on Tuesday, September 6, at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm with Father David Leibham officiating. Mr. Hitt was born in Hewitt, Tx. on March 6, 1921 to Joseph Newton and Fredonia Swanner Hitt. He served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and was pilot of B24 in the 22nd Bomber group in the Pacific theater of operations. He retired as a Captain. He was employed as General Purchasing Agent for Cameron Wholesale and Certain-Teed Corp. for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nanny Gatlin, Helen Hitt, Betty Cook, Ina Dawson, Mabel Hines and Hazel Johnson; brother, Aubrey Hitt. He is survived by wife, Barbara; son, Alan Hitt and wife Kelly; daughter, Mary Ann Hamby and husband Jaral; grandchildren, James, Emily, Mary and Jodi Hitt and Nicholas Jay Hamby; sister, Mrs. Janice Belcher and many nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Orr, Hubert Kraft, Truett Lindsey, Leonard Moses, Mauris Hardcastle, John Black and Harold McNabb. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
