Burt Ural Davidson, Jr. August 4, 1922 - August 19, 2012 Burt Ural Davidson, Jr. of Waco passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012. Chapel Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Brad Brittain officiating. Burial and Masonic Services will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Burt was born August 4, 1922, in Temple, Texas, to Burt and Pearl Davis Davidson, Sr. He graduated from Temple High School in 1942. Burt served honorably as part of the Greatest Generation during World War II, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1946. In 1942, after high school he began working for the road crew on the Missouri, Kansas, Texas Railroad. After his service in the Army, he returned to work, first as a fireman, then as an engineer, with the MKT Katy Railroad, retiring in 1983 after 41 years of service. He met the love of his life, Lauranel Liles, on a blind date, and they were married in a double wedding ceremony with their best friends, Cotton and Avagene Spoonts, on December 8, 1943, in Granger, Texas. Burt was a member of St. John's/Central United Methodist Church in Waco. He was a 50-year plus member of several organizations: M.D. Stanford Lodge #594, Waco Scottish Rite Bodies, McLennan Chapter No. 639, OES, where he was a Past Patron, and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Ruby; his loving wife, Nell; and his sister, Clotiel Gribble. He is survived by son and daughter, Rick and Diane Davidson, of Waco; and brother-in-law, Bruce Liles of Olivette, MO.
