C. W. Bill Richards Charles William Bill Richards, 80, of Waco went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 6, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2002, at Western Heights Baptist Church, with Chaplain Curtis Holland and Pastor Mike O. Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2002, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas. Mr. Richards was born February 1, 1922, in Winnsboro, Texas, to Henry Tompkins and Lora Tucker Richards. He later moved with his family to Bonham, Texas. He graduated from Bonham High School in 1939. At First Baptist Church Bonham, he made his public profession of faith and followed in believer’s baptism. Mr. Richards was later ordained as a deacon there. Also at First Baptist Bonham, he met and married Peggy Pauline Adams on June 16, 1952. They were married for over 37 years when in March 1990 she went home to be with the Lord. Mr. Richards worked for J.C. Penney Co. and later opened Bill Richards Grocery in Bonham. In 1963, Mr. Richards moved his family to Waco to work as manager of the Lake Air Children’s Shop. He retired in 1990 from the Veterans Administration Canteen Service after 25 years of service. He was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church for 34 years. In addition to his family, his favorite thing was telling stories and making scrapbooks. After his retirement, he made 235 scrapbooks. His scrapbooks chronicle his love of family, friends, history, cars, art, and the Bible. He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Justin Heath Storer; brother, Hardy T. Richards; and son-in-law, Steven Wesley Barber. Mr. Richards is survived by his daughters Carolyn Richards Herring and husband Dennis of Hallsburg, Laura Richards Wright and husband Larry of Robinson, and Emily Richards Tawater and husband Mike of Waco; grandchildren Amanda and Eric Herring, April and Adam Barber, Austin and Dustin Storer, Matthew Wright, and Will, Callan, Jad, and Rustin Tawater; sister Fran Watson of Dallas; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Pallbearers will be Glynn Lightsey, Mitch Davis, and nephews Ricky Watson, Ray Richards, Rick Bowles, and David Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Forrest Richards, Bob Dorough, Henry Morgan, Charles Goin, Lem Lane, Gregory Baker, Leon Boone, Mac Gorham, and members of the M.V.
