THOMPSON, C. W. TOMMY C. W. Tommy Thompson, age 78, of Woodway went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held at 3pm Saturday, December 21 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Jimmie Johnson officiating and Richard Banks and George Williamson delivering eulogies. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8pm Friday, December 20 at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson was born August 28, 1924 in Washington, D.C. to Marcelous Eli and Annie Charlotte Beach Thompson. He was educated in public schools in Washington, D.C. and Clinton, Maryland. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 as an Aviation Cadet, Class 44I, in Miami Beach, Florida. He attended Massachusetts State College as an aviation cadet and Emory Riddle University as an aeronautical cadet. Following his discharge from the military, he attended Sparten School of Aeronautics. He worked as a commercial pilot and flight instructor. Mr. Thompson went to work for American National Insurance Company in 1946, where he started as an agent, promoted to assistant manager in Amarillo and was promoted to manager in Sweetwater and Big Spring. In 1961, he was promoted to Waco as a district manager, where he worked for 11 years. In 1973, he was promoted as director of agencies of the Eastern division in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1975, he transferred to Denver, Colorado as director of agencies of the Rocky Mountain region, in 1977, he transferred to the Southwestern region in Waco, took early retirement in 1986, after working for 40 years with American National. He married Joyce Wendland December 5, 1964. He was a charter member of the HOTMAC Miniature Aircraft Club for over 30 years. Mr. Thompson was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Harris Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kathryn Ulman and Myrtle Kidwell. Survivors include his wife, Joyce W. Thompson of Woodway; daughters, Carol Ann Milikin of Annapolis, Maryland, Dawn Thompson McCullough and husband, Darrell of Woodway, and Darla Thompson Wellendorf and husband, Kirk of Raleigh, North Carolina; sons, Richard Thompson and wife, Mona of Granite Shoals and Ralph Thompson and wife, Cindy of Lubbock; six grandsons, Christian Prosperi, Tom, Jerry, Ricky and Ronnie Thompson, and Michael Santangelo and two granddaughters, Morgan McCullough and Rochelle Thompson; nine great grandchildren; sister, Hazel Miller of Silver Spring, Maryland; brothers, Robert England of Fort Meyers, Florida and Phillip England of Alexandria, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Armstrong, Max Blose, Darrell McCullough, Kirk Wellendorf, and D. J. Fath.
