Camilla Bare Gidden

July 4, 1932 — September 22, 2014

Camilla Lanham Bare Gidden July 4, 1932 - September 22, 2014 Camilla Lanham Bare Gidden passed away in Waco on Monday, September 22, 2014, with her family at her side. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, September 25, at Belton Cemetery, 1500 N. Main St., Belton, Texas. Camilla was born on July 4, 1932, the daughter of E.F. Rip and Marie Blair Lanham. A descendent of early pioneer families of Bell County, she attended Belton schools and Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. At Southwestern Camilla met Ted, her husband of 53 years. Some of Camilla's fondest memories were of growing up in Belton with her Blair cousins and sister, Linda. She remained close to Linda her entire life and loved celebrating her birthday on the Fourth of July in Salado with Linda, family and friends. After raising their two daughters, Melinda and Marianna in Waxahachie, Camilla and Ted moved back to Waco where she embarked on a new career late in life. She became the director of The Arc of McLennan County from 1990-2001. The relationships she developed during these years were very special to her and she loved reminiscing about her days at The Arc. Her six grandchildren lovingly called her "Nina". She and Ted were very close to them and enjoyed being involved in all aspects of their lives. In the years following the death of her husband Ted, Camilla married Don Gidden of Temple. Don died in 2012 and Camilla moved back to Waco to be close to her family. Her last years were spent at Stilwell Retirement Center where, once again, she developed many wonderful friendships. Camilla is survived by her daughters, Melinda Quinius and husband, John, and Marianna Hogue and husband, Ted; her six grandchildren, Blair Quinius and wife, Lauren, Kate Quinius Jones and husband, Russell, Meg Quinius Robinson and husband, Cole, and Alice, Molly, and Peter Hogue, as well as one great granddaughter, Mary Caroline Jones; and cousins, Mary Lapwing, Ida Lou Nicholas, and Rebecca Terrell. Memorials may be made to The Arc of McLennan County, 1300 Austin Ave., Waco, TX 76701 or Stilwell Retirement Center, 5400 Laurel Lake, Waco, TX 76710.
