Camille was born on June 2, 2009, in Waco, Texas, to parents, Jason and Maggie Whitt, and big brother, Henry Whitt. Though born with neurological impairment that prevented her from ever walking or talking, Camille led a full and beautiful life that left a profound impact on everyone she met. She possessed a gift of joy that was shared with all who spent time with her. She was loved so very dearly, and was the greatest blessing to her family and community. Camille loved dogs and fish, Disney princess movies, Wheel of Fortune, and all kinds of music (especially her Mommy’s many made-up songs). She enjoyed taking walks on Baylor University’s campus, going to Cameron Park Zoo, attending church with her family, cheering on her brother at his soccer and basketball games, watching Baylor sports, listening to ocean waves, and spending time with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Camille’s very favorite person in the whole world was her big brother, Henry. They laughed and sang songs together every day, and would often play games together that Henry made up just for Camille. Camille also loved it when Henry would push her in her wheelchair up and down the hall as fast as they could go, and her squeals of delight could be heard all over the house. Camille was very well-traveled, and enjoyed trips with her family to such places as Mount Rushmore, the badlands of North Dakota, the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota, and the mountains of Colorado. In 2016, she travelled to Disney World through Make-A-Wish. At the time of her death, Camille had been to 19 states. For the last two years of her life, Camille lived with her family on campus at Baylor University. She was embraced by the wonderful students in the Honors Residential College who adored her and treated her like a true princess. Camille influenced numerous Baylor students throughout her life, including many pre-medical students who believe they will be better doctors because they knew her. Camille’s family would like to publicly thank a multitude of people who cared for, prayed for, and loved Camille throughout her precious life including: her wonderful pediatrician, Dr. William Nesmith; her incredible team of specialists at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Dr. Todd Pearson, Dr. Jeffery McGlothlin, Dr. Artee Gandhi, Dr. Bankole Osuntokun, Dr. John Dallas, and Dr. Karen Schultz; her long-time therapists, Julie Bradford and Holly Montgomery; her home-health nurse, Sharon Crowell; the team at Providence Hospice; the faculty, staff, administration, and families at Waco Montessori School and Vanguard College Preparatory School; the students, faculty, staff, and administration at Baylor University, especially the Honors Residential College and the Institute for Faith and Learning; the congregations at First Baptist Church Waco, DaySpring Baptist Church, Blue Ridge Baptist Church, and University Baptist Church Fort Worth; and friends around the country and the world. Camille is survived by parents, Jason and Maggie Whitt; beloved big brother, Henry Whitt; grandparents, Mahlon and Melanie Tate, and Danny and Chris Whitt; aunt and uncle, Ashley and Michael Flowers; cousins, Everett, Eli, and Emory Flowers; and many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sharon Lynne Whitt. Camille’s family grieves so deeply, but they do so with the hope that in Christ all will be made new. She is now held in the loving arms of Jesus. She ran her race so very well, and has received her crown. She and her family will be reunited one day in God’s eternal kingdom. Memorials can be made to: Cameron Park Zoo, Waco Montessori School, and Give Kids the World. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
