Canary Dell Slaten

MRS. JESSIE A. CANARY SLATEN, 92, of Waco, died Friday in a Garland nursing home. Graveside services will be 1:30 PM Monday, July 9, 2001 at Rosemound Cemetery, Rev. David Story officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 1124 Washington Ave. Mrs. Slaten was born February 19, 1909 in Bryan. She moved to the Waco area in 1925 and married Jessie A. Slaten November 12, 1927 in Waco. Mr. Slaten died June 3, 1991. Mrs. Slaten was a seamstress and alterations lady for many years. She was a member of Park Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters: Mrs. Jessica Perkins of Dallas, Mrs. Dell Carpenter of Garland and Mrs. Alta Faye Griffin of Arlington; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
