Candace Ann "Candy" Bradley

June 15, 1945 — July 6, 2024

Candace Ann Bradley, 79, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2024, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas.


A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church of Waco on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Josh Vaughan will officiate the service, and interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park.


Candy was born Candace Ann Hodges in Vernon, Texas, on June 15, 1945, the eldest of two daughters to Bob and Frances Hodges. She grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and graduated from Monterey High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Bradley, in June 1965. They moved to the Dallas area to raise their two children, LeighAnn and Kevin. While in Dallas, Candy worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone. In 1988, the family moved to Waco, Texas, where she worked for Baylor University in the Physics Department. She left Baylor to pursue a business adventure with her husband in 1992. After Bill’s death in 1995, she returned to Baylor as a Purchasing Agent in the Purchasing Office, where she was highly respected and appreciated by all those she served. She retired from Baylor in 2016.


Candy was a long-time member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and the Faith/Agape Sunday School Class. Her faith in Jesus was very important to her, and her Sunday School class members were dear friends who prayed for her through all the good and difficult times in her life.


Candy was an avid painter, and her artwork will be cherished by many family and friends for years to come. Her other hobbies included reading and sewing. Candy loved and cared deeply for people. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.


Candy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, Bob and Frances Hodges; and her son, Kevin Bradley.


Candy is survived by her daughter, LeighAnn Bradley Virnau, and husband, Chuck, of Waco; granddaughters, Hannah Virnau, Becca Virnau-Small and husband, Calvin, and Alyssa Virnau, all of Waco; sister, Nancy Bell, of Alvarado, Texas; and nephew Michael Strickland and wife, Kim, in Tennessee.


Pallbearers will be Chuck Virnau, Calvin Small, Gary Luft, Charles Derrick, Erik Small, Larry Virnau, and Joshua Virnau.


Memorials may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, Waco, Texas.
