Carter Ernst Sloan

SLOAN, CARTER Carter Ernst Sloan, 80, of Waco, passed away peacefully Friday, July 26, 2002 after a short stay at a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:30am, Tuesday, July 30 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with the Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating. Private burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Sloan was born September 26, 1921 in Washington, D.C. She attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans where she met her husband Jack Q. Sloan, M.D. They married February 15, 1944 and he preceded her in death September 3, 1999. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, travel and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Chi Omega Sorority, Waco Garden Club and Coterie Club. “Bama” is survived by sons, Jack Q. Sloan, II and wife Ava of Seabrook, Frank A. Sloan of South Lake Tahoe, California; granddaughters, Robin Martelli and Cody Fuentes both of Katy, Shannon Townley of Nashville, Tennessee, Ashley Banker of Dallas and Sadie Sloan of South Lake Tahoe, California; seven great grandchildren, Sloan, Silas, Kalijah, Nicholas, Jack, Chance and Carter; brother, Frank A. Ernst and wife Tommy of St. Petersburg, Florida. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Fuentes, Kevin Banker, Cory Martelli and Robert Townley. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
