Catherine Boyce May 4, 1925 - June 19, 2016 Catherine Boyce of Robinson, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, at First Baptist Church Robinson with Bro. Michael Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Catherine Boyce, retired music teacher, was born May 4, 1925, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1943. She attended Georgia State College for Women in Millegeville, Georgia, and graduated from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Education. Her parents, James and Marion Jones, were pioneers in the development of south Florida. She married Robert Arden Boyce, July 2, 1945. Catherine began her teaching career in Iredell in Bosque County, then moved to Meridian and became the first itinerant vocal music teacher in Bosque County. They moved to Cranfills Gap where her husband was Superintendent of Schools. They later moved to Robinson, where she taught music and English for 22 years, and where she started the first choir program in the high school. Catherine began playing the piano and organ for churches at age 16, and continued in this capacity wherever they lived. She had been organist for the First Baptist Church of Robinson since 1965. She was pianist 12 years for the Baylor Singing Seniors, which began under Dr. Euell Porter and retired under the direction of Charles Rich. She also played for area nursing homes, led the music for the Golden Age Club of Robinson and was a trustee for Robinson Cemetery Association. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Assoc., Waco Retired Teachers, Sigma Alpha Iota and the Bible Study Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Arden; sister, Lorraine Biel; and brother, Jim Jones. She is survived by her son, Robert "Bobby" A. Boyce, Jr.; and daughter, Mary Wood and husband, Norman; grandchildren, Keith Arden Wood, Kristie Ray Wood and spouse, Juan Agado IV and Karrie Elizabeth Wood; great grandchildren, Trinity Raye Lugo, Lillian Rose Agado and Arden Dean Wood; and her sister, Theo and Capt.
