Catherine F. Reitmeier, age 90, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Baylor, Scott & White – Hillcrest after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
There will be a private, family graveside service held Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in the Garden Room at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Catherine was born in Waco, Texas, and lived her whole life here. She attended Waco High School. She married the love of her life, George T. Reitmeier, on August 9, 1952. They met while he was stationed at James Connally Air Force Base. They were married for 42 years until his passing on August 25, 1995. Catherine retired from the Waco Veterans Affairs Medical Center after 26 years of service. She was a longtime church pianist at Edgefield Baptist Church. She loved her family and was an avid cook. She enjoyed country western dancing and working in her yard. She was a member of First Woodway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto C. and Clara Eddleman; her husband, George T. Reitmeier; and her brother, James Eddleman.
Catherine is survived by her son, Mike Reitmeier and his wife, Edith; her daughter, Sherri Hitch and her husband, William; and her daughter, Robyn Giles. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lindsay Hall and her husband, USAF Lt. Col. Nick Hall; Mark Reitmeier and his wife, Lauren; Kelli Richardson and her husband, Cody; Alex Giles and his wife, Ashley; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Mark Reitmeier, Cody Richardson, Parker Richardson, Alex Giles, Rick Brophy, and Butch Maddux.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or First Woodway Baptist Church.
